Understand the Clairs to deepen Your Intuitive Powers!
Become more aware of your gifts!

What's your dominant Clair?
Can you guess mine?
Chances are if you are reading this blog, you are well aware of Intuition. We all operate on some level of connection to our hunches, gut feelings, or a knowingness that guides us.
But have you ever wondered how we receive these subtle messages?
During our
women's retreats, my co-host Kim Moore often introduces the concept of the Clairs. Since we discussed
signs and synchronicities in my last blog, I thought it would make sense to share information about the Clairs - these are the various ways we tap into our intuition, and let's take a deep dive and explore each of them!
I know many of you receive these signs and I wanted to give you definitions to understand them a little bit better. Clairs are the intuitive abilities that many of us possess to varying degrees, allowing us to perceive information beyond the scope of our usual senses. Whether you've experienced these firsthand or are simply curious, let's look at each Clair and see how it might manifest in your life.
But first, why?
Understanding the Clairs can open a whole new world of perception and insight for you!
It'll help you:
- gain deeper insights into your emotions and thoughts
- make more aligned decisions
- feel more in tune with your inner self, harness your unique intuitive strengths, and
- be able to better understand and empathize with the emotions and energies of those around you.
You will also be able to better trust your intuitive hits and inner knowing. You will deepen your connection to the spiritual realm and the universe’s subtle messages.
Sounds good? Now, explore the Clairs with me!

The 8 Clair Senses:
1. Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing):
It's like having a vivid movie playing in your mind, showing you people, places, or events that are beyond what your physical eyes can see. It's those moments when you get a strong mental image or vision. As I shared recently, a lot of
my intuition is not flashing lights. It's usually flashes of images that are a representation of something or an analogy that I need to decipher.
I experience these visions as very quick flashes that I must grasp. An example would be, tea cups. Sometimes I will see teacups and it usually means one of three things: It either means the person was very spiritual or religious; they had a teacup collection; or as simple as they enjoyed tea. I learned the meaning of this symbol through trial and error with clients.
2. Clairaudience (Clear Hearing):
It's when you hear messages, voices, or sounds that others might not. It could be a whisper of guidance, a song playing in your head with a special message, or even hearing someone's voice who has passed away.
I typically receive clear messages through music. This often takes the form of a song that resonates with the client or lyrics that hold personal significance for them. I rarely experience auditable voices other than my own.
3. Clairsentience (Clear Feeling):
It is often referred to as having a strong gut feeling or intuition. It's sensing emotions, energies, or vibes from people or places without any logical explanation. It could be walking into a room and immediately feeling the tension or joy that lingers there.
Clairsentience is one of my strongest Clairs. When I tune in, I can sense people's emotions and energies. It's incredibly frustrating to feel something is wrong with a loved one, only to be met with denial. I laugh as I write this because it’s a common human response to say, "I'm fine." I primarily use this ability in sessions, but my family is an exception. I can easily detect when something's off with my kids, pets, husband or close friends. I know many of you can relate to this instinctual awareness of those closest to us.
4. Claircognizance (Clear Knowing):
This is like having a deep inner knowing or understanding about something without knowing why or how. It's those moments of certainty or conviction that guide your decisions or thoughts effortlessly.
Clear knowing is challenging for me to define. It's an intuition that suddenly materializes in my mind. Sharing this is difficult, but a recent experience stands out. While with someone, the thought 'this person will die young'—specifically in their 50s—appeared unexpectedly. (This is NOT any of you.) I did not share this information with anyone because it would serve no positive purpose. It would only induce unnecessary fear and anxiety. I understand that we have our seasons in this realm and it means that their season will be complete earlier than what I would have expected.
5 and 6. Clairgustance (Clear Tasting) and Clairsalience (Clear Smelling):
These are less commonly known but equally intriguing. Clairgustance involves "clear tasting," where you might experience specific tastes or flavors associated with a person or situation.
Clairsalience
, on the other hand, is "clear smelling," where you catch a whiff of a fragrance or scent that holds meaning or a message.
I experience both of these. Last month I shared the smell of cigarettes that I will get when my Aunt comes to visit. I will also experience taste. Many times, in sessions I will taste minerals. I have learned from trial and error that it usually means the client has a magnesium deficiency. As a side note, magnesium spray applied to your feet at bedtime can be beneficial for sleeping since it's easier for magnesium to be absorbed through the skin.
7. Clairtangency/Psychometry (Clear Touching): Clairtangency, or "clear touching" is about picking up information about an object or its owner through touch, like feeling the history or emotions attached to it.
I trained in psychometry with Brian Robertson and Simon James a few years back and did ok, during training. It was a fun experience and cool when I received validation on what I was feeling. However, I did not exercise that muscle, so I am not too confident in this practice.
8. Clairempathy
Clairempathy is not the same as empathy or being an ‘empath’. It means you are able to sense emotions in advance, or feel other people’s emotions when they’re nowhere near you and you’re not communicating with them. You might feel that something is wrong with a loved one who lives so far away. You might sense their grief or sadness. It might not make sense but you are so closely linked to their energy that you have this psychic connection and feel their emotions.
I have a strong sense of Clairempathy where I can channel the emotions of lost loved ones, or can sense how my clients may have felt in their childhood or how they will feel about future events.
So that's it! Please remember, the clairs are for everyone! They aren't just mystical abilities reserved for a chosen few; they're part of our innate intuitive toolkit, and the more we learn and pay attention, the more we will develop our abiblities!
It's your turn!! I want to know about you!
