Let's Discuss Your Power
If you hit any bumps last month, I hope that you pulled out some of the tools discussed in the last newsletter to keep you flowing through life! This month, let's discuss your power.
Do you find that you apologize too much, or that you get defensive when someone questions you? Do people generally respect or fear you? Do they take advantage of you or hurt you? While it may seem like we are powerless against the behavior of others toward us, the truth is, they are just reacting to the ways in which we have taught them to treat us. Please sit with that thought for a moment... It is one of the things that I work on most, not only during my sessions but in my own life as well.
So now that you have this "thought" or, better yet---this realization---what do you do with it? This month, I want you to keep it simple. First, you need to consciously decide how you want to be treated. And then, gently begin to teach others how to treat you that way. The best place to start is with yourself! Keep your words, thoughts and actions kind. Do nice things for yourself and breathe through any guilt. Short and sweet, right?!
