This Can't Be Happening
Comfort zones are those familiar places, people and ideas that we grow attached to and feel disoriented once the slightest change occurs. Often times, we are forced to change but sometimes we intentionally or naturally move ourselves out of those zones.
When I started my business, it was about the energy work with psychic and medium readings – I’m not that person anymore. My work has evolved over the years to be more emotionally influenced to read, feel and understand the emotional aspect of our energy. This business shift feeds my soul and I was receptive to that transition.
Sometimes a shift from our comfort zone can be compounded by unrelated situations. Take the following for example:
My phenomenal virtual assistant, Tracey, gave her notice – she had begun a new journey and was opening herself to new possibilities. Understandably, my heart was excited for her and I knew she was making the right decision for herself, but I was saddened for the ending of our season. I will miss her supernatural ability to read my thoughts and know my vision before seeing it myself.
The evening of Tracey’s resignation, I decided to look at my MailChimp account and prepare for the next newsletter – a task that formerly belonged to Tracey. After logging in, I quickly discovered there were no active subscribers. I contacted customer service and had the following exchange:
Customer service representative:
What I'm hearing is you read the disclosure that stated this would permanently delete all subscribers with no potential to recover the information. Thereafter, you proceeded to type the word “DELETE” to confirm this action.
Me:
Yes, but I only thought it was deleting the "unsubscribers" that were listed on that page and not also the 1,800 active subscribers.
Customer service representative:
Unfortunately, when it stated that it would be deleting all
of the subscribers, it actually meant ALL.
It was a very unexplainable moment. I was overwhelmed and queasy. After coming to terms with my situation, I recalled the last time I felt like this, magic was created – energy was opened and I embraced something new. What I previously lost was my "day job" and affordable office space within 4 days of each other. However, what I gained was a more central office location and the ability to go full time with my business. Having been here before, I knew there was a lesson. I bypassed the "poor me, why is this happening?" question because it was simply a waste of energy. I focused on moving forward and accepting the challenges that awaited me.
I asked:
- Where do I go from here?
- What changes will I create?
- What am I going to manifest next?
- What is opening up for me?
- Allowing my body to process new feelings without creating stories.
- Embracing the change – not resisting it.
- Trusting the journey.
- Getting excited because it will completely change the experience.
The "Poor me, why is this happening" resurfaced occasionally but I had to proactively turned my thoughts to, “I'm excited to see where I go now”. I was not allowing the doubt to root itself and add any limiting beliefs.
Tracey knew that she had to completely release her comfort so that she could allow herself to embrace the possibilities. She is wise like that. I, unfortunately, needed another kick in the ass.
Within a few days of feeling bombarded by unfortunate news, I transferred my contacts from my scheduling program and removed clients that I was aware had previously unsubscribed. (Note: I apologize if you unsubscribed and you need to do it again.) I am also happy to announce that I have hired a new badass virtual assistant who is excited to take on my craziness.
By sharing my experiences with you, I hope that if you ever do find yourself in a situation that feels unbearable, there is always light if you move forward. Please remember: When it feels like everything is falling apart, it is just an experience. Don't feed the experience with hypothetical negative stories. You can't step into the magic of life if you are going to be giving value to the negativity.
This is a journey of the soul. Focus on thoughts and actions that feel good so you can continue to wake up a new person every day who is not afraid to embrace each unique experience.
Love and hugs,
Dena
